A fluid plan, elemental materials, and generous use of natural light define the James Perse store at Canon Drive, the new flagship location. The design is marked by a sensitive use of light and dark wood, stone, plaster, and glass. Its layered façade starts with sliding shutter-doors that quietly blur inside and outside, veiling the entrance. The effect is echoed by the courtyard trellis and pivoting glass doors opening to it.
Named one of the "Top 20 Retailers" by Monocle in 2009, it received an Architectural Design Award from the city of Beverly Hills in 2008, and established the design template for the Malibu Lumberyard and other stores.
Standard is the architect for the first eight James Perse stores located in Los Angeles, Malibu, New York, Las Vegas and other cities.
