Standard collaborated with the design team from Paul Smith on a 4,740 SF to reimagine the interiors of the iconic pink Melrose store and create a new VIP entrance patio. The primary goal was to enhance the overall customer experience within the store, which was achieved by creating a more cohesive and immersive shopping environment across the different brand departments. One of the key design objectives was to create separate but cohesive spaces for each of the store’s departments: Women, Men, and Home. To achieve this without making the space feel confined, the team used warm stone-cladded partition walls, which serve the dual purpose of visually dividing the store while also creating an inviting, intimate ambiance. Overall, the design reflects a deep understanding of the brand's identity, which places a strong emphasis on the use of color and attention to detail, such as the striking red metal entrance tunnel, which makes a bold statement upon arrival. Additionally, the Paul Smith and Standard team incorporated color to add vibrancy and character to the different sections of the store, as well as custom art pieces and furniture. Every aspect of the project has been carefully considered and designed to ensure an exceptional customer-facing experience, aligning seamlessly with the brand's ethos.
Standard’s involvement as local Architects played a key role in turning Paul Smith’s vision into reality. We were responsible for design development, applying for permits, bidding, and contract administration, ensuring that the project's execution aligned with Paul Smith’s design intent.
